Ambedkar Jayanti Celebrations in india


Preparations are in full swing here for the 125th birth anniversary celebration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The four-day programme will begin on Thursday and lecture sessions and a play on the life of Buddha will be held at the district stadium.
“Over a lakh people are expected to participate in the event,” M.B. Patil, district in-charge Minister, said on Wednesday.
Speaking to presspersons before inspecting the venue for the celebration, he said that on the valedictory function to be held on April 17, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, M. Mallikarjun Kharge, and Home Minister G. Parameshwara would participate. A blood donation camp would be held on Thursday and three rallies would be taken out from various parts of the city to the Ambedkar Circle.
On April 15 and 16, lecture sessions would be held at Ranga Mandir on various issues related to the caste system.
“On the last day, a play titled Tathagat, which is based on the life of Lord Buddha, will be staged,” Mr. Patil said.
Meanwhile, the Minister said that Mr. Siddaramaiah would touring drought-hit taluks on April 18. “ Later, he will hold a review meeting on drought,” he said.
