Spider-man: gets a 2019 release date

The long-awaited trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming arrived just the other day, and while the film isn’t due in theaters until July, Sony has announced that it will be releasing its sequel on July 5th, 2019.

Deadline revealed the date last night, noting that the date was a response to the success of the trailer launch on Thursday. The film bumps Sony’s other big summer blockbuster, Bad Boys 4 to Memorial Day 2019.

Car Blast Kills 16 at Somalia's Capital Near police station

MOGADISHU, Somalia — A suicide car bomber killed at least 16 people and injured nine others at a police station in the Somalia capital, a Somali police official said Sunday.

The attack early Sunday targeted a police station adjacent to Mogadishu seaport, said Capt. Mohamed Hussein.

At the blast scene, medical workers carried bodies burned beyond recognition to ambulances. Human limbs and bloodied shoes were scattered across the blast scene.

Most of the victims are port workers and police officers.

Somalia's Islamic extremist rebels, al-Shabab, claimed responsibility for the attack, the second blast in the seaside capital in two days. The insurgents said they had killed "apostates" in the attack, according to the group's Andalus radio.

On Saturday, a suspected suicide car bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle at a security checkpoint near Mogadishu when soldiers stopped him for security checks.

Despite being ousted from most of its key strongholds in south and central Somalia, al-Shabab continues to launch deadly guerrilla attacks against the Somali government and African Union forces across large parts of the horn of Africa nation.

More than 22,000 peacekeepers are deployed in Somalia in the multi-national African Union force. Al-Shabab opposes the presence of the foreign troops.

A surge in attacks by al-Shabab could lead to further delays in the country's presidential elections, which have been set for Dec. 28.

The elections have already been delayed three times.

An anonymous reader quotes CSO:A hacker in Turkey has been trying to encourage distributed denial-of-attacks by making it into a game, featuring points and prizes for attempting to shut down political websites... Users that participate will be given a tool known as Balyoz, the Turkish word for Sledgehammer, that can be used to launch DDoS attacks against a select number of websites... The attack tool involved is designed to only harass 24 political sites related to the Kurds, the German Christian Democratic Party -- which is led by Angela Merkel -- and the Armenian Genocide, and others... Forcepoint noticed that the DDoS attack tool given to the participants also contains a backdoor that will secretly install a Trojan on the computer.Source

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday called for surveillance of mosques as part of U.S. law enforcement efforts to prevent terrorism, and stood by his remarks on banning Muslim immigrants that others in his party have criticized.

Trump repeated his call for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration to the United States after a U.S.-born Muslim man with Afghan immigrant parents fatally shot 49 people at an Orlando gay nightclub early on Sunday.

The billionaire New York real estate developer said that while the Florida gunman was born in the United States, “his parents weren’t and his ideas weren’t born here.”

“We have to maybe check, respectfully, the mosques and we have to check other places because this is a problem that, if we don’t solve it, it’s going to eat our country alive,” Trump said at a rally in Atlanta.

The Orlando gunman, Omar Mateen, is believed by authorities to have acted alone, inspired by radical ideology he was exposed to over the internet.

Prominent Republicans this week distanced themselves from Trump’s comments about Muslims after the Orlando mass shooting.

House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said on Tuesday he did not think a ban on Muslim immigrants was in U.S. interests. U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who ran against Trump for the Republican nomination and has been a fierce critic since, said Trump’s response made him “unnerved.”

Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee, said on Wednesday that Trump’s rhetoric had grown “even more inflammatory” in recent days. She said the United States counts on partners in majority-Muslim countries to help fight terrorism.

“Not one of Donald Trump’s reckless ideas would have saved a single life in Orlando,” Clinton said at an event for U.S. military families in Virginia.

Trump on Monday proposed that the United States suspend immigration from areas of the world where there is “a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies until we fully understand how to end these threats.” He also said radical Muslims were entering the country amidst a flood of refugees and “trying to take over our children.”

Trump previously has drawn criticism, including from within his own party, for saying he would implement a database to keep track of Muslims in the United States and require them to register.

Trump’s hard-line proposals on immigration have contributed to his popularity among some conservative voters. But they have also triggered condemnation from minority and human rights activists, and his political opponents, many of whom have called his rhetoric racist.

The WAG Brigade is a group of certified therapy dogs that the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals take to the San Francisco airport to greet passengers. They provide comfort, entertainment, and smiles to weary and stressed travelers. Most of the dogs also have duties at hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities that could use a friendly, people-oriented pet. The newest member of the WAG Brigade is different. She's a pig, named LiLou, who is a certified Animal Assisted Therapist (AAT)  and loves to interact with people. LiLou also has an extensive repertoire of tricks she performs for appreciative audiences.

According to the SFSPCA, "At a minimum, AAT pets must be solicitous and fully comfortable with handling. In other words, pets must be interested in and eager to approach people and accept handling, regardless of the person’s age, gender, race, size, mobility equipment usage, and apparel." LiLou nailed her training and is now dispatched to the airport once a month.

Women Should Be Included In The Draft Hillary Clinton Says

Hillary Clinton said she backs legislation requiring women to register for the draft, moments before the Senate voted in favor of the measure.

"I do support that," Clinton told The Huffington Post on Wednesday.

The provision would have little practical impact, at least in the short-term. The United States has relied on an all-volunteer army since 1973, which Clinton said she continues to favor.

"I am on record as supporting the all-volunteer military, which I think at this time does serve our country well," she said. "And I am very committed to supporting and really lifting up the men and women in uniform and their families."

But requiring women to register for the draft has become a symbolic measure for many lawmakers, buttressing the argument that there is not an inherent gender component to one's ability to serve in the military.

“I support it,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who served in the Air Force for years, told HuffPost last month. “I don’t think you want to take half your population off the sidelines in case of a national emergency.”

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) added that “it’s just a matter of time” until women are treated equally in the military.

When the ‘World’s Oldest Dog,’ Dead At 30 [Sad News]

A Kelpie that may have been the oldest dog ever died in her bed on Sunday in Woolsthorpe, Australia.
Brian McLaren told the local Weekly Times newspaper that his dog Maggie lived to the remarkable age of 30.
“She was still going along nicely last week,” McLaren reportedly said. “She was walking from the dairy to the office and growling at the cats and all that sort of thing.”
According to the American Kennel Club, Maggie would have been about 164 years old in human years (the American Veterinary Medical Association said the whole 1 dog year = 7 human years thing is a myth).

When we get our puppies we often look for dog training advice but often in the wrong places. The primary focus that we need to have is on dog obedience training as it is a crucial aspect for dog owners. Dog obedience training methods are the basis for a getting your dog to be well behaved, responsive. With these methods your dog will be able to live in your home with your family, friends and other animals comfortably.

Many people make the mistake of skipping obedience training and try to correct dog behavior problems by yelling and punishing. This is not good. You will find it much harder to get your dog to be well behaved around people and other puppies without obedience training. You have to realize that the dog needs to be trained to understand that you are the leader and this happens through obedience training.

Puppies follow what is known as a pack mentality. They follow a leader and it is you who must be your dog’s leader. This is what disciplines your dog. You offer a sense of direction and authority. You must always keep your leadership role with your dog. Now I do not mean you must be this cruel military general. You can play with your pup and have fun. Just remember to constantly remind the dog that you are the authority.

Dog obedience training serves as the method that starts and develop this relationship. Without this training your dog will often feel that there is no such relationship. This will lead to more and more behavior problems and you will find it very difficult to even live with your dog much less walk around in public with him/her.
What often happens is that dog owners search for dog training advice but they are often given instructions such as make the dog do this and have the dog do that. However the dog owners are never told what this means to the dog. We never look at the dogs perspective of why he or she does what it does and why it responds well to certain methods and poorly to others. To have this understanding of the dog’s personality and will make for a much more pleasant training experience for both the dog owner and the dog.

Without proper obedience training you run the risk of a constant battle for authority especially in with dogs that are more prone to being aggressive by nature. This trait must be subdued and eliminated as quickly as possible and this can only be done with proper obedience training opens you both to the possibility of a tension filled power struggle. This attempt to dominate is a dangerous and undesirable trait in a dog, and must be eliminated as soon as possible, through obedience training.

It is always good to be at ease knowing your dog is well- behaved even though your away. Once you reach that point, you won’t have to worry about bringing your dog to other people’s houses, or having people and other dogs approach your dog.

Extra Dog Training Advice:

- Base all your training around the principle of positive reinforcement
- Correct the dogs mistakes with out scolding or punishing for a more productive training approach
- Always address bad behavior
- Use Repetition
- When bad behavior is displayed, never wait to correct it. Correct it on the spot and make sure a connection has been made.
- Keep your training periods short. 15-30 minutes tops
- You must train your own dog. It is better for you to be seen as the leader than a non family member.
Again, having a dog is not just about feeding, walking and playing. Training is a huge part of your responsibility. Do not make the mistake many people make of taking dog obedience training lightly. DEHRADUN: Police horse 'Shaktiman', which suffered multiple fractures on its hind leg during a BJP protest here triggering widespread outrage, died today after battling infection and other complications for over a month.

"The horse passed away at 5.30 PM. He was suffering from medical-related complications. The exact cause will be known only after post-mortem," IG Garhwal Sanjay Gunjyal said.

Shaktiman, the Dehradun Police horse which received global sympathy from celebrities and common people alike after it lost its left hind limb in an attack by BJP legislator Ganesh Joshi, has managed to survive all odds.
But a six-year-old injured and abandoned horse is struggling for its life in an animal shelter in Dehradun and might lose its battle for the lack of treatment.
He is not as lucky as Shaktiman as the police department and various NGOs ensured he received the best treatment by generating funds and calling in the best doctors. Equine orthopedic surgeon Phiroz Khambatta traveled from Pune for its surgery and prosthetic expert from The Maya Foundation in Bhutan Jamie Vaughan was also invited to support the team of veterinarians who were deployed around the clock to monitor its health.
Volunteers brought the horse, which met with an accident and injured its right foreleg about a month ago, to Raahat, a shelter that belongs to a resident of Sapera Basti in Mothrawala on Friday night. They have decided to call it Shaktimaan 2.
Activists at Raahat are struggling to find help as only a couple of non-government organisations have come forward to lend a hand in its treatment. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is one of the two which is chipping in.
“The leg needs to be amputated immediately before the infection spreads in other parts of the body. We contacted People for Animals that runs an equine shelter in Sahaspur. They denied providing services to the horse claiming that the shelter takes only old horses and not injured ones. Friendicoes Seca based in Delhi was also contacted that backed off. Donkey sanctuary, which is based in Gurgaon, however, has promised to support us,” Pankaj Pokhriyal, an activist with Raahat, told Hindustan Times.

The veterinary department has agreed to treat the horse but has said it cannot help them with resources like medicines, bandages, an oscillating cutter for amputation, prosthetic leg and others. Activists from Raahat and SPCA are raising money by themselves.
“Veterinary department doesn’t have anything in the name of infrastructure. So, volunteers would collect money for buying related items needed for its surgery and healthcare that is likely to be done in a day or two,” Pooja Bahukhandi, SPCA’s vice-president, said.
The Maya Foundation’s Vaughan, who has been treating Shaktiman, was approached by Bahukhandi for help. She fixed a PVC pipe on the leg of the ill-fated horse on Saturday.
“I am a prosthetic expert. And I could assist veterinary doctors during surgery,” Vaughan said.


The animal, however, is finding it difficult to adapt as the wounds are leaking with pus, Raahat’s Pokhriyal said.
Dr Ashutosh Joshi, the officer in charge of Uttarakhand Animal Welfare Board said, “The entire life of a horse is spent standing. If one of its legs gets injured and gangrene sets in, then there are negligible chances of its survival unless careful and continuous efforts are made towards amputation and providing prosthetic leg.”
When contacted SS Bisht, additional director at Uttarakhand’s department of animal husbandry, said veterinarians are working on the case.
“We have to be cautious in case of the equine. Gangrene is fatal for any animal,” Bisht said.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.

Police blocked access to part of L Street Monday afternoon as officers negotiated with a man barricaded in a car parked in the middle of the street in front of the Capitol.
The state Assembly shut down early, and the north entrance to the Capitol was closed.
“We don’t know why he has barricaded himself, and we’re currently trying to communicate with this individual to determine why he’s doing this,” said Sacramento Police spokesman Matthew McPhail. He said the department had not yet issued any evacuations.
Photos posted on Twitter showed a light gray car with a bicycle strapped to the top, the windows covered in brown paper. Pieces of paper with writing were taped inside the windshield.
Dozens of vehicles were stuck inside the city-owned parking lot on L street because it exits on 11th street, adjacent to the suspicious vehicle. Officials ultimately reversed traffic in the garage to allow vehicles to exit the entrance on 10th street.
McPhail said SWAT officers and negotiators were at the scene.
At the corner of 12th and L streets, police prepared two armored vehicles and several officers dressed in SWAT gear were standing by.
A sergeant was seen walking into the parking structure below the Capitol with two officers dressed in camouflage uniforms and carrying rifles.
Police on scene also deployed a robot.

The makers of Iru Mugan announced that Vikram plays a dual role in the film espionage thriller. However role performed by Chiyaan Vikram is still a secret. It is learnt that one could be a negative character, but this remains to be a suspense that makers don’t want to reveal. 

The  first look teaser of this film was released on Sunday  which also happens to be Chiyaan Vikram birthday. The film’s shooting is almost completed and only 40% is pending to be wrapped up. Nayantara and Nithya Menon are playing the female lead roles and Karunakaran is the lead comedian. Harris Jayaraj is composing the music for the film, while RD Rajeshekar is handling the camera

 

The film is currently getting on a full stretch shooting across the locales of Chennai and couple of songs featuring Nithya Menon and Nayantara each with Vikram would be canned during this schedule. Soon after this schedule, the entire crew will be flying to Thailand and Bangkok for completing the other portions.

The the team shot two schedules in Malaysia and then in Chennai. A replica of a tunnel in Malaysia, worth Rs 4 crore  was erected in Chennai, where a part of the film was shot.

Some reports claim that the theatrical release of Iru Mugan could happen on the festive occasion of Eid.

The University of Science and Technology of China has recently unveiled an eerily realistic robot named Jia Jia. While she looks more human-like than that creepy ScarJo robot, you'll probably still find yourself plunging head first into the uncanny valley while looking at her. Jia Jia can talk and interact with real humans, as well as make some facial expressions -- she can even tell you off if she senses you're taking an unflattering picture of her. "Don't come too close to me when you are taking a picture. It will make my face look fat," she told someone trying to capture her photo during the presscon.

The team spent three years designing her, making sure her mouth moves when she speaks and that her eyes glance around the room naturally. But they've yet to figure out how she can laugh or cry... and how to make her hands look less like a department store mannequin's. Those might come with version 2, since the researchers intend to continue working on Jia Jia despite having no plans of mass producing her. Team leader Chen Xiaoping said they hope to give her deep learning and facial recognition capabilities in the future.
